Friday Club exists to promote and grow an organic network of friends and their friends who meet to explore the culture and bars of Melbourne.

The first Melbourne Friday Club took place in September 2004 at Murmur in Warburton Lane – a dream come true for the founders, Leeds-born Simon Robinson and Melburnian Danielle Johnston.

Bringing some balance to working life (leaving the office before 6pm on a Friday) was Simon’s mission, while Danielle had just finished a story on Melbourne’s bars for a local newspaper and was keen to keep up her research, though preferably not on her own! The concept of making FC open invitation also gelled the pair.

The 20th Friday Club was held in May 2006 and apart from two ‘Friday Club Specials’, held in Brisbane and Hepburn Springs, all the club nights have taken place in the bar-infested Melbourne CBD.
